Erica Burgess
Erica Burgess has dedicated over 25 years of her career to direct care and management experience in the child welfare system through the private sector.
She has spent the majority of her career as the Director of Foster Care and Adoption for the North Carolina nonprofit, Methodist Home for Children. She works directly with a diverse population from juvenile justice, social services, and managed care. Her work in the foster care system has brought to light the need for system change, the power of family, and the importance of leadership and community.
Her years working in the private sector have provided Erica with the experience and knowledge in child welfare including program development, staff development and training, program evaluation, consultation, and project management. She has specific expertise in the areas of foster care, adoption, kinship care, licensure, programming for transition age youth, and recruitment and retention of foster, adoptive and kinship caregivers.
